„Evoland – A Short Story of Adventure Video Games Evolution“ ist ein ursprünglich eine Weiterentwicklung für einen Entwicklerwettbewerb. Dort hatten Entwickler maximal 48 Stunden zur Verfügung um ein Spiel zu einem bestimmten Thema zu entwickeln. Entsprechend merkt man, das die Geschichte und das Spiel nur für eine kurzen Zeitraum Spielspaß liefert. Der Entwickler und Publisher Shirogames bietet für knappe 10 Euro ein schnelles und vergnügliches Abenteuer.

Das Spiel selber ist eine humoristische Aufarbeitung des Rollenspiel-Genres für den Computer. Am Anfang kann der Held nur wenige Dinge und auch sich auch nur in 2 Dimensionen bewegen. Diese Fähigkeiten werden sehr schnell erweitert. Die Fähigkeiten, welche das Spiel weiter entwickeln müssen erst gefunden werden. So kann man dem Helden erst später einen Namen vergeben und auch Farbe und Hintergrundmusik kommt später erst zum Einsatz.

 

Die Geschichte des Spiels selber ist eine Hommage auf Final Fantasy VII und Zelda. Dabei bedient es sich aber auch der Scheibenwelt und Mittelerde. Viel wichtiger ist jedoch die Meta-Story,  welche die Geschichte der Videospiele dem Spieler erzählt.

Evoland II

 

Das Spiel hatte so einen durchschlagenden Erfolg, das der Entwickler sich entschlossen hatte einen zweiten, durchaus längeren Teil heraus zu bringen. Ein dritter Teil ist derzeit nicht geplant.

Zu diesem Spiel habe ich auch ein Let’s Play online gestellt, das einige Eindrücke zeigt.

Grafik 

Die Grafik beginnt sehr schlicht, verbessert sich aber zusehends bis zu einer primitiven 3D-Grafik. Sie ist der Story sehr gut angepasst.

Sound, Musik & Soundtrack 

Auch wenn der Sound und die Musik sehr schlicht sind, vermisst man nahezu nichts.

Spieldesign 

Ein Lob für das Design und die Idee, die hinter dem Spiel steckt. Ich hätte es mir nicht besser ausdenken können. Und besser machen erst recht nicht.

Story / Kampagne 

Die Story ist sehr liebevoll gestaltet und liefert immer wieder lustige Hints auf bekannte Geschichten.

Steuerung 

Die Steuerung ist einfach zu bedienen und wird durch einfache Tastaturinteraktionen gewährleistet.

Schwierigkeitsgrad 

Das Spiel lässt sich recht einfach spielen und man schafft es sehr schnell zu erlernen wie man es spielt. Einzig der Endgegner ist eine Hausnummer für sich, so das ich hier einen halben Stern abziehen muss. 🙂

Langzeitspielspaß 

Es ist immer wieder lustig die Geschichte zu spielen und ein paar neue Dinge zu entdecken. Auch weil man es beim ersten Spiel sicher nicht schafft alle Achievments abzuschließen.

Gesamt 

Ein gelungenes Spiel, das Freude macht und man kann sich sicher sein das man etwas für sein Geld bekommt.
