Das Alles mit einem betrunkenen Edgar Allan Poe, der einen Freund bittet die Pflichten in seiner Hochzeitsnacht zu übernehmen.
Weiterhin unternimmt er mit seiner Frau, seinem Freund und anderen, ihm bekannten Personen eine verrückte Reise in die Welt unter der Welt: Die Hohlwelt.

Dies ist eine Bücherrezension, die ich schon vor langem geschrieben, aber irgendwie nicht veröffentlicht habe. Auf 381 Seiten haben Poe und seine Freunde sehr skurrile Abenteuer zu erleben. Man kann nicht nur anhand des Titels sehr viel irdischen Abgrund erwarten, es gibt auch einiges an menschlichen Abgründen, die der Autor ausreichend anschaulich macht. Ein Einblick in die Geschichte Edgar Allen Poes, der so sicherlich nie stattgefunden hat.

Durch einen Vulkan in der Nähe eines Pols kommt das Gespann mittels Luftballon durch die Erdkruste und kann das innere der Erde sehen. Dort geht es heiß zur Sache. Die Pflanzenwelt steht Kopf und wächst auf die Mitte des Planeten zu. Es gibt Wesen die durch die Luft gleiten und auch ein Volk, das sich dort nieder gelassen hat.
Entkommen unsere Protagonisten dieser Welt und können Sie die wirkliche Erde wieder besuchen? Natürlich muss jemand überlebt haben, denn sonst könnte es diesen Roman nicht geben.

Das Buch ist sehr bizarr und an einigen Stellen auch nicht weniger merkwürdig. Die Phantasie des Autors wurden definitiv keinerlei Grenzen auferlegt.
