Kürzlich habe ich wieder eine Buchhandlung betreten. Bei diesem Fehler habe ich festgestellt das ein Nachfolgeband eines meiner Lieblingsautors zu einem anderen Buch erschienen ist: The Long War.
Natürlich musste ich es mitnehmen.

The Long WarWorum geht es?

In The Long War geht es um eine Erde, welche mit vielen Parallel-Welten verknüpft ist. Die Menschheit siedelt in diesen und trifft hier auch immer wieder auf intelligente Spezies wie z.B. die Trolle. Eine friedliche Rasse von Jäger und Sammlern, welche durch die Welten zieht.
Hierbei schließen sie sich auch immer wieder menschlichen Siedlungen an und sind offenbar willige Arbeitnehmer, welche schwere Arbeiten für keinerlei Entgelt leisten. Dennoch werden die Trolle immer wieder von Menschen mißbraucht und mißhandelt. Dies geht soweit, bis die Trolle schließlich verschwinden und sich eine Expedition auf die Suche macht.
Gleichzeitig erklärt eine weit entfernte Kolonie im fernen Amerika sich von den USA für unabhängig, worauf es zu den ersten Militärexpeditionen innerhalb der Long Earth kommt.

Grundsätzlich kann ich Werke von Terry Prattchet nur empfehlen, da er für mich einen sehr guten Schreibstil hat. Ich selber versuche seine Werke nach Möglichkeit in seiner Heimatsprache (Englisch) zu lesen, was es für den ein oder anderen vielleicht schwieriger machen könnte.
